During our recent summer vacation trip to California I had a chance to stop and visit Temecula Quilt Co. in Temecula, California. What a treat! I saw the shop featured in the Fall/Winter 2009 edition of Quilt Sampler magazine and had been trying to get there ever since.
This shop has all of my favorite things, bolt after bolt of Civil War reproduction fabric, unique small quilt patterns, specialty books, pre-cut fabric collections and vintage look quilt samples galore. Everything is staged artfully among spools, baskets and antiques giving the place a very welcoming feel.
Bundles and mini-bundles of fabrics are tied and adorned with a hand dyed tag decorated with a small button and displayed in glass jars – just like candy! The owner has compiled small quilt patterns of her own in palm sized booklets to be completed with one of the mini-bundles. The hard part is choosing one, they are all so enticing. I picked up several bundles which contained fabrics I had not seen – perfect for small quilts with a scrappy look – as well as one of the booklets and two other patterns.
If you find yourself in Southern California, Temecula Quilt Co. is a must visit, I can’t wait to go back.
